How this works

Enter every appliance you can think of with its wattage, the hours it runs and the days a week it runs on. The tool works each one out over a year and totals them. Compare that total with a real yearly bill: if the audit is well short, something is missing — usually heating, hot water, or an appliance nobody switches off.

Frequently asked questions

What if my total does not match the bill?

It rarely matches exactly, and the gap is informative. Under by a lot usually means space heating or hot water is missing, or that running hours are underestimated. Over usually means hours plugged in were entered rather than hours actually running.

Should I include standing charges?

No. A standing charge is a fixed fee for being connected and does not belong to any appliance. Compare this total against the energy portion of the bill, not the grand total.

How accurate is this?

As accurate as the wattages and hours you put in. A plug-in energy monitor on the three or four biggest items turns an estimate into a measurement, and the rest rarely matters enough to chase.

How we calculate this

Each row is watts × hours × days per week × 52 ÷ 1,000 × price per kWh, giving a yearly cost. Rows are summed before rounding, so the total never drifts from the sum of the displayed rows. Monthly and weekly figures are the year divided by 12 and 52 exactly, so the three never contradict one another.
